Exhibitor General Rules
These rules apply to ALL Exhibitors!
READ CAREFULLY
These rules are in effect until the next show book is released the spring of next year. Please keep these for reference

Missaukee Agricultural Youth Show is open to all youth who live in Missaukee County, Missaukee County school district, attend a Missaukee County school, parents own land in Missaukee County, animals are raised in Missaukee County, attend 1 MAYS exhibitor meeting, or attend a Missaukee County-4 H, FFA, or FHA group.

Exhibitors must be between the ages of 6 and 18. The age used is the age of the exhibitor on January 1st (with the exception of rule #3.) For example; if you are 18 on January 1st but turn 19 later in the year, you will still register as an 18 year old.

Age Exception - Exhibitors up to the age of 26, who have been determined to be eligible for special education services through the local school district may enter educational and demonstration classes. Please call a board member for more information.

Tiny Tots (age 3-5) do not need to register and there is no fee. Child needs to be present at the fairgrounds and ready to show at the designated time. Age 3-7 year olds are not eligible to show these animals: Market Cattle, Feeder Calves, or Swine. See department rules for more information.

All exhibitors must sign up and complete a work slot in order to exhibit any projects at the Youth Show. Exhibitors will not receive entry tags until they have signed up on the work schedule.

Market exhibitors are required to attend 1 MAYS educational clinic, join and attend a Missaukee 4-H Meeting or complete the YQCA course by the third Saturday in July. Exhibitors who do NOT meet the requirements won’t be allowed to show in market classes nor will they be allowed to sell their animal through the auction. Information will be posted on our website & facebook.

All market animals must be owned by the exhibitor who enters them in the show.

All indoor and educational exhibits must be created by the exhibitor who enters them.

For Rules 6 &7; if requested an exhibitor must provide Proof of Ownership by signing an Exhibitor's Certification stating that the exhibit was produced, made, raised and/or owned by the exhibitor.

Exhibits are not to be entered for more than one year unless it is a continuous project.

Missaukee Agricultural Youth Show Board Members or Department Superintendents have the right to refuse ANY project which might be dangerous to other projects, animals, or people. Any disputes will be decided by the Youth Show Board.

Awards will be presented as listed in the book regardless of the size of the class, unless otherwise specified by the department superintendent or judge.

Award monies will be prorated if there is not sufficient funding to cover those premiums. If there are any questions on premiums received. Please call the board treasurer. All checks must be cashed within 60 days, or the checks will void.

ANY exhibitors who remove their exhibits prior to the stated release time will forfeit any premiums which may have been awarded with that exhibit (except with the permission of the department superintendent for individual dire circumstances only). See schedule for exhibit release times.

Each exhibitor is responsible for setting up their own pen(s). Every exhibitor must attend clean up. Clean up will include cleaning out your own pen(s) and other jobs as assigned by your superintendent or a board member. Each exhibitor will need to check in and out within the office. Exhibitors who fail to attend clean-up will be penalized 10% of their check. Parents are strongly encouraged to participate in clean up.

Appeals and Complaints Policy: Any complaints regarding: (Conflict of interest of the judge, Disqualification of an exhibit or exhibitor, Behavior of an exhibitor, group leader, Department Superintendent, Eligibility of an exhibit or exhibitor,) shall make a formal protest in writing to the Missaukee Agricultural Youth Show Executive Board with $25, no later than 10 days following the end of the show. If the complaint is found valid the $25 will be refunded. The party or parties against whom the protest was filed shall have the right to read the statement of protest. All protests will be referred to a grievance committee. This committee will review the protest with interested parties and give parties an opportunity to submit evidence. Within 10 business days after the initial receipt of an appropriately filed protest, the committee will present a report of their findings to the Youth Show Board for a final decision on the protest. The Youth Show Board shall have 15 business days after the report was presented to them to issue a finding of fact and notice of

Youth Show Board action. A copy of these determinations will be presented or sent to the party who filed the initial protest and any party or parties against whom the protest was filed. If the party who made the initial protest is not satisfied with the association's action, the party may file an appeal to the Department of Agriculture within 45 days in which the initial complaint was filed. The Department of Agriculture shall have 60 days after receipt of any appropriately filed appeal to investigate the complaint, and shall issue a finding of fact and notice of department action and any recommended actions for the association.

Exhibitors must furnish their own pails, feed, and cleaning equipment. Exhibitors are expected to keep the areas clean and their animals fed and watered at least twice daily. Exhibitors will participate in grooming their own animals. Sawdust will be provided by the Youth Show for exhibitor use. Soiled sawdust must be placed in the appropriate designated areas by exhibitors when cleaning pens.

The board has the authority to vote on the rules as deemed necessary for the best interest of the fair, animals and exhibitors.

Only exhibitors, parents and superintendents are allowed to stay overnight with their animals. Campers must report to the office, pick up Community Center rules, and sign in and pay prior to parking the camper/tent in the designated area.

Missaukee Agricultural Youth Show Animal Drug Testing Policy: Upon consensus of the Youth Show board in urgent situations, any animal suspected of being on tranquilizers or other drugs or antibiotics fed beyond the withdrawal period will be subject to testing.

The Youth Show Board may require additional testing of animals before entry and during the show. Testing will be done according to Livestock Sample Collection Procedures. NOTE: The Youth Show has the legal authority to require drug testing under the Animal Industry Act, Act 466 of 1988, as amended, in Section 40(3): "A fair, exhibition, exposition, or show authority may require additional testing or vaccination of animals before entry and during the fair, exhibition, exposition, or show." A copy of the Livestock Sample Collection Procedures performed by a Veterinarian/ Authorized representative will be posted in the office.

No large animals are to leave their barn except for Sheep
Market Livestock
Each exhibitor is allowed to sell a maximum of two large animals (one animal per department) and/or a maximum
of two small animals (one small animal per class). The only gallons of milk sold during the auction are the Grand and Reserve Champions. These will sell for the respective exhibitor, no matter how many market projects they may have. Large animals are: Market Cattle, Feeder Calves, Sheep and Swine. Small Animals are: Chickens, Turkeys, Ducks, Goats and Rabbits. All sale animals are required to have a completed record book turned into the office. For more information please see the market record book rules. Each exhibitor of a market animal is required to enter and complete the showmanship class in the appropriate department of the animal.
Champion Milk Sale Rules:
10% of the sale price for market animals will be retained by the Youth Show for Livestock (for sale and general purpose expenses), General Exhibitor's support toward the Building Maintenance & Repair.
75% of the sale price for the Gallons of Milk will be retained by the Youth Show and divided as follows:
Grand Champion Cow: 75% will go to the Missaukee Youth Show’s General fund.
Reserve Champion Cow: 75% will be turned over to the Missaukee Dairy Boosters
Proceeds from any resale animals will go to either the Missaukee Agricultural Youth Show’s General Fund or Building Maintenance & Repair Fund.
